After touring and playing constant shows for years, Escape the Fate officially released their first true album in three years. For a band that is constantly performing, it’s impressive how they’ve been able to stay so consistent. With that, fans were eager to hear more, and the band showed us what they had in store. Releasing songs like Idle Potential and Déjà Vu only made fans more excited for the new album.

The album starts off with Last Goodbye. Most of the members stated that it was their favorite track during their Instagram Live the night the album was released. Delivering more metal sounds as promised to fans, the song displays the album’s direction. Craig Mabbitt’s vocals are as strong as always, blending seamlessly with the background screams and guitar.

The guitar riffs from Escape the Fate will always be a statement, specifically highlighting Matti Hoffman. Matti only joined the band in the past few years, but he’s made his presence known and quickly became a fan favorite. This can be difficult, especially because fans get attached to members. It’s no surprise that many people were excited to see what he had to offer, considering Escape the Fate has had many members throughout its history. Hoffman is undeniably talented, always managing to make his complicated guitar riffs look easy, which will continue to draw fans’ attention toward him.

Leading into Coffin Kingdom, you’ll notice less background screaming as Craig’s voice takes the spotlight. To no surprise, his voice has always been and will continue to be a staple of the band. As always, the guitar work is striking and enticing.

Escape The Fate - Idle Potential

When getting to Idle Potential and Déjà Vu, it’s understandable that these are the tracks they decided to release prior to the album. Both songs work extremely well for old and new fans. Idle Potential specifically has a really catchy quality to it, something any audience member could pick up on during the first half of the song and already be ready to scream along to the rest without ever hearing it before.

After some mellow tracks like Medicine and The Other Side, you get a chance to breathe before reaching the final song of the album, Remedy of Numbness. It starts off with heavy guitar, plenty of screams, and the feeling that you’re being taken straight back to the beginning of the album. A little after the halfway point, you hear one of the members shout, “GO!” This leads into an amazing breakdown where the drums and guitar work perfectly together, making it feel like it was made for a Warped Tour wall of death. The ending of the song is blunt, but it doesn’t feel incomplete. Instead, it feels like a natural ending to both the song and the album.

Even through constant touring, lineup changes, and hardships throughout the band’s history, Escape the Fate has once again delivered something that fans will love and that will continue to bring in new ones.
